Introduction

The Manchester Group car section runs three advanced driving courses a year (in January, May and September), each of which comprises eight practical driving sessions held on alternate Sunday mornings, and three evening classroom theory sessions.

Practical driving sessions are held every second Sunday from the car park behind Woodley Civic Hall, Hyde Road, Woodley, Stockport, SK6 1QG. Stockport is within easy reach of Manchester, south Lancashire and north Cheshire.

Our driving courses are open to any qualified driver 18 years old or over. The driving techniques we teach are based on the Police Driver's Handbook, 'Roadcraft' and The Highway Code.

The next course for which places are available is the May 2012 course, starting with a Classroom Session on 10th May and the first practical session on 13th May. Young Driver and Rider Scheme

• If you are aged beween 18 and 25 you may be eligble for a free course under our Young Driver and Rider Scheme.

Costs

Associate Fees

Associates are Members who have not yet taken the RoADAR advanced test. The Manchester Group Associate fee of £40.00 covers the cost of providing Associates with a copy of the Police Drivers Handbook 'Roadcraft' together with Know Your Traffic Signs and the Highway Code. The fee for Associates who already have the books is £30.00.

Test Fees

The RoADAR test fee is £48.00, which reduces to £45.50 if booked through the Group. Drivers under the age of 26 are given a further test fee discount of £7.00 by RoSPA Advanced Drivers and Riders (RoADAR).

The test fee includes one years full membership of RoADAR for candidates obtaining a test grade of Gold, Silver or Bronze.

Manchester Group Annual Subscription

Manchester Group membership is open to all full RoADAR members at a yearly subscription of £12.00 and is valid for one year from date of joining the Group.

RoADAR Annual Subscription

The RoADAR annual subscription is presently £22.50 and includes the cost of the tri-annual retest. The retest gives a valuable and free continuous monitoring of driving standards and is unique to RoADAR. As a RoADAR member you will receive a copy of RoSPA's own newspaper, "Care On The Road" every two months.

Benefits

It cannot be stressed too strongly that the real benefit of taking the RoADAR advanced test is in having had an impartial, expert assessment of your driving ability.

Further benefits of full RoADAR membership include discounts on car and bike insurance and discounts on Halfords' products and services.
